I think it's unlikely that joint financial deputyship with your sister is going to run smoothly under the circumstances - how likely are you to agree on financial decisions if your brother in law is involved in these? Perhaps it would be better for someone independent such as a solicitor to take on the role?

I agree with Louise7. You could tie yourself up in knots with this at a time where you have enough to worry about. Make a note of the money, the missing money and be specific that it all has to be accounted for but if a lawyer can act on your behalf you could save your sanity and get annobjective 3rd party to monitor things
