From the end Feb my OH will pay £28.25 weekdays, £31.00 w/e, £39.00 Bank hoildays and £44.00 Christmas day.im looking into getting a private carer alongside my daughter and me.It just seems a lot of money for doing bits and pieces.Sometimes dad is not getting his full time.Probably like most of us to be honest.

I'm cutting OH times from the beginning of Feb, OH has an hour in the evenings but it doesn't take that long so I've cut it to 3/4hr, doesn't save much, but as I always let the carers go 15-20 minutes early so OH may as well benefit from the saving. I've also dumped 4 calls throughout the week and got a private carer in instead for less than half the cost.

Thats what I’m going to do. My daughter and I are taking back some of dads care. We have a cleaner every week now who sits with dad for a while. She will do tea. Then I need to find a carer for 3 days a week. Then I can get rid of the Care Company. Dad is not so much trouble or arguementative as before. He hasn’t got the strength.

is that singlecarer or double manned? per carer or for the call? Dot forget, if you employ directly , you have to run a pay roll etc

I employed carers directly myself. Half the cost of an agency, and the carers were better paid and I think we had a better relationship. The legal/financial work was done by a specialist company that I found through my local carers’ centre. They charged very little for doing the admin and vetting cf to a care agency.

Hi, have you asked for a financial assessment? It could be you are entitled to financial support towards the costs. Our carers get less than £10 an hour working for our local council, it's disgraceful!
