Can anyone suggest suitable tights or pop socks?

Hello
My mum is about 5 foot 2inches and has a waist of about 46 inches and we have a problem with finding tights to fit. Can anyone recommend where to buy them from?

She also has continence problems and so may need to change them during the day if the pads don't do the trick.

Are there any pop socks around for the larger figure or even 'hold ups' or knee high thick black socks. Trousers are not a solution (sorry!)

Thanks to all you kind folks
Hermes

Hello Hermes . My mum has swollen ankles at times so ordinary pop socks make it worse . I bought her knee highs and pop socks from a company called Cosy feet , who specialise in shoes , tights etc . They have a catalogue which they will send you but you can order online too. Hope they are suitable for your mum . Best wishes . Lou

You could try Hold Up Stockings. These aren't as tight as pop socks and are longer so less likely to show under a skirt. The tops have sticky band not elastic. They do work with gravity though but are easy to pull up. I certainly prefer them to tights (horrible things). Also I find them stronger, few ladders.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I have ordered a variety and will try them out with my mum on my next visit. (Long distance carer!)

Now this a bit out of my comfort zone and I hope you won't take offence, but have you thought of maternity tights?
I remember my wife wearing them and they might fit her shape a bit better. I've had a quick goggle (note to self, delete history later) and 2 pairs for a fiver seems to be the high street price.

What a great suggestion! I couldn't get on with hold ups! Wore them to work once and as I was walking down the corridor they gently fell round my ankles!! Bare legged for the rest of the day!!

Thank you, that is what I call lateral thinking and may be a cheaper option!
