if you or anyone else care for The PWD for more than 35 hours a week you may be entitled to carers allowance
Yes & you can do it over the phone & they send out the form for you to sign!Does anyone know whether those with dementia can claim Attendance Allowance. I can't be with him all the time. Thanks.
Attendance allowance stopped for Dad when he went into care.Yes. Definately agree with getting help to fill it in if you can though. Mum has just been awarded it after we applied in december.
A lady from 'making spaces' our local carer support service came to mums and filled it in with us. A lot of the questions didnt fit mum exactly with the options available so we filled in the additional box at end of question with details instead.
Mum is also on pension credit and after she got her AA she automatically also got an SDP increase in her pension credit too.
Mum had just been reassessed by SS for 3x short carer visit a day and a day a week at day centre. When she got her AA her income was reassessed and SS said the extra AA and SDP was now classed as accessible income and it would need to go to SS towards cost of her care they were going to provide.
We decided to keep the benefit and use it to pay for and organise our own carers etc ourselves. We'd prefer a longer block from a carer over couple of afternoons rather than 3 short visit every day.
