Hi my mum is in a care home since march last year my dad would like to know if anyone can answer/advise on the following:

Attendance allowance - can it be included by the local authority in full as part of my mums income effectively extending the period of time for which she is deemed to be self funder?

Also although my mum is is a care home my dad continues to care for her albeit on a part time basis has anyone tested this principle with regard to attendance allowance?

Thank you

If you are self-funding, you continue to receive AA in a care home.
You stay self-funding until your capital goes below £23,250. AA will be part of this capital as it goes into your Mum's account.

To add to what Beate said, whether your father is or is not caring for your mother makes no difference to Attendance Allowance: that goes to the person who needs the care not the carer. Now if your father is in receipt of carer's allowance, that is different.
