Dear All,

My name is Imender Singh Rehal and I’m currently in my final year of studies at the University of Bradford (UK), studying Cybernetics and Virtual Worlds. For my final year project, I’ve chosen to research into the area of assistive technology. From the research I have conducted so far, I have come to the understanding that there is a common problem amongst the elderly and fragile falling over and injuring themselves on various levels. Based on this research, I aim to design and produce a working solution for a ‘fall detector’.

As I am a final year student, the project will be restricted in terms of time and resources, and the end point will by no means be a fully functioning commercialised product available to buy off the shelves. I aim to produce a paper design and implement part of the project to demonstrate the idea/theory behind the design.

As part of my research, I am hoping to gain the thoughts of carers for elderly individuals about assistive technology and caring. If you could kindly take out 10 minutes from your valuable time, and fill in the online questionnaire (link below), it will be greatly appreciated. The data will remain anonymous and will only be used for my final year project.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully
