A patient suffering from early stage vascular dementia was initially prescribed Ariceft 5mg and, after one month, 10 mg. Shortly after, onset of diarrhea. After about 6 weeks, dose reduced to 5mg and diarrhea stopped, only to start again subsequently. After a total of about 3 months, and having investigated likely causes and also conducting a general health checkup, Ariceft was stopped again for 8 days. The diarrhea has now gone. The patient will now be put on a different medication - possibly a patch.
I mention the above because patient lost 15 kilos and is one of 8% of the population unable to tolerate Ariceft.
