Mum says she has NO appetite. We have tried everything she used to like and everything else we can think off. We give tiny amount on small plate as she says seeing food puts her off. She tries to eat when encouraged but about 2 teaspoon sized mouthfulls she says she is too full and cannot eat any more.

Hello @Liz beer welcome to Dementia Talking Point.

If you're living in a heatwave it may be a reason your mum doesn`t want food. If not and she has just lost her appetite try to be satisfied is she eats little and often a few spoonsful at a time.

Perhaps you can give her high calorie food which is refreshing. Milk jellies made with evaporated milk and fruit have proved successful at times.

Also egg custard, old fashioned blancmanges made with full fat milk.

My husband went through this stage and lost quite a lot of weight so I know how worrying it is.

I hope others post soon with more ideas.

Thanks for answering, unfortunatly mum has never liked milk and now spits out anything with meat in it, so all she is surviving on is salad
