My mom, who has dementia, has recently started getting dressed and leaving the house in the middle of the night. Her neurologist has ruled out alzheimers but this behavior seems severe for dementia. Any thoughts?
Just seen Beate's post when I was about to respond. I think you'll find it clarifies things. When you say that the behaviour seems severe for dementia you may be thinking in terms of the old term 'senile dementia' which was previously used to describe symptoms in the elderly that were often less than severe.
It's a pity the Neurologist didn't say what s/he thought might be responsible for the dementia. Perhaps you could speak to whoever referred you to try to find out more.
