To add to my last comment - does Jack understand that she has dementia and gets delusions? Is he able to see that although its hurtful it is not his granny talking? Im sorry to say that in my family we have developed a very black sense of humour as some of the things that mum comes out with are so ridiculous that the only sane response seems to be laughter (not to her face).
