Over the years I have seen many of our members start threads in this section. It's a well-trodden path and now it's my turn to take this step. Just a small step, but what significance it has.

Her heartbeat I knew so very well.
For many years I’ld been under it’s spell.
It broke my heart to hear it stop.

I was sitting close beside her bed.
Thinking of all that I’ld left unsaid.
When her heartbeat quietly stopped.

She slipped away, no fuss at all.
Into the unknown, beyond recall.
When her heartbeat calmly stopped.

She was ready to go and had no fears.
I bade farewell through endless tears.
When her heartbeat finally stopped.

The crowd around me disappears.
But I’m still here with all my tears.
Recalling the day her heartbeat stopped.

Here's another who is thinking of you too Gringo.
Well trodden the path may be but it's still has some rocky places left. Take care.

.

Dear Mike,

I doubt that you left anything unsaid; you told your dear wife that you loved her-and that is what matters. Anyway, your actions proved to your wife how precious she was to you; the daily visits, the loving care you gave her.....

Please have no doubts that you went above and beyond in caring for your Wife.

My heart goes out to you.

Love,

I also sure you`ll have left nothing unsaid gringo and what you didn`t say you felt.

It certainly is a well trodden path but as Saffie said it doesn`t run smoothly.

A lovely poem Gringo, beautifully expressed. Love lives on forever even when only the one remains and the other is alone.

Thank you for sharing with us.

A year! Seems to me like it just happened and I'm still struggling 'with endless tears' to come to terms with it.

Oh Gringo it’s lovely to hear from you but can’t believe a year has passed since you lost your wife.
It really is no time at all so of course you are sad.I still have many weepy times and Dave has been gone nearly 4 years now. Little things that suddenly make the tears flow.
Take care of yourself and just let your memories of happier times comfort you when you can.
