When you apply for deputyship one of the things that you are asking the court to make a judgement on is for a person to be appointed as deputy (usually the applicant). I dont think you can change this without reapplying for deputyship, although you can ask for joint deputyship.

Age UK and Citizens Advice will both help with filling in the forms if this is a problem.

For clarity, I was not suggesting that an application be sent off, merely that the forms be obtained and could be partially filled in, then kept just in case they are ever needed ...I don't see how an application could be made whilst the Attorney is alive, able to fulfill their responsibilities and is doing so properly

As @canary suggests, there is help to fill them in available from charities and solicitors

I don't know the charges a professional Deputy would make but a professional appointed will charge for every task undertaken @Lilac Blossom
