I saw that photo, and I just hadn't realised this fence existed before I saw that photo, I was aware of it being talked of but thought it was a political reference, but it would be early to mid eighties before I would be old enough to be aware of such things I guess.

It just shows that unless we are old enough to have lived through things or our parents have told us we don't know or understand what happened. Mum told me a lot about the war but not that period.

I also thought it was a political rather than a physical entity, like 'The Cold War'. It's quite sad how little I know about European history.

I loved your photos Sylvia, a beautiful city and also blue sky. Glad the weather improved for your site seeing.

I remember when the Iron Curtain went up and particularly when it came down, the joy of the people. Very shortly after my Dad died and I was sad he did not live to know about it.

Enjoy the remainder of your holiday.

Love

We had such a lovely day today.

We went on a river cruise to a beautiful art gallery in the middle of the Danube. It was stunning.

Ah, that must be the art gallery that the EU leaders didn't get to the other week....because there wasn't enough water flowing in the Danube for the boat to get there :D It looks amazing

You are right chemmy. We had to phone first to check the water was deep nough.

Now I'm watching Slovakia's Stricly. It's called Star Dance but otherwise it's exactly the same. ;)

The last one is blurred because it is a view through a window but it gives and idea of the scene by the river

It must be more enjoyable watching something in another language when you can understand exactly what's going on :D Do they have the equivalent of a Craig?

You missed a cracking show here tonight.

It seemed much more formal than ours although the compère seemed funny and popular.

As for missing a cracking show........I've recorded it. :)

Lovely photos, Sylvia. I wonder where you are off to today. You will be a cultural genius by the time you get back. :)

I am very much enjoying your travelogue, Sylvia. I was particularly struck by the sculpture which looked very much like First Nations art to me - the two-headed brightly coloured one.

I'm using a tablet and thanks to Izzy's suggestion, using the app to post the photos. No more too big, no more upside down, no more hoping nitram would sort them for me. :)

Today we went to the castle which is high on a hill and dominates the skyline of Bratislava.
