Well if we are going to talk wacky stories, when I joined my last company they booked me on a Time Management course.

.... I turned up a day late.

Oh, and I never wear socks with my high heels, not even odd ones. Do you think I'm daft or something?

Well - I'm amazed! Frilly ankle socks with high heels can be very fetching apparently. I'm surprised you haven't tried this yet.... colour coordinated of course, but if you're only wearing the one, then you shouldn't have a problem....
