I feel sure Scarlett would have an ode to summarise this :), not sure of the tune though.
A carers life for me,
A phone call,
So sorry no carer tomorrow , unless you want a stranger,
No thanks we know that doesn't work.
A rota through the post
Oh dear, they have forgotten, I am out for the day
That day, well I hoped to be.
A phonecall, can you alter that visit to all day?
Of course I will phone her, and let you know.
No one phones
A phone call, have you got a carer all day then?
Oh yes one of your usual ones until lunch,
And then a stranger.
Please cancel that as we know that won't work.
A phone call sorry can't
travel to see you tomorrow as no carer.
A phone call, no early carer today, so sorry,
Will you be Ok? I'll cope.
Lunchtime, the doorbell goes,
Carer here, a stranger.
Sorry I cancelled you, come and meet my OH anyway.
She goes, he smiles, he likes her.
A phone call, if you are stuck again this week,
We will try her, I will stay in to explain things.
Repeat several times a month.

I feel sure my dear OH is not the only AZ person who not only can't explain his needs, or how to manage his meals and handling without distress or risk, but who does not like a total stranger doing his personal care and can then resist. And ' they' go on with all the cutbacks and economies while paying what feels like lip service to preventing carer stress.

Oh I do like a challenge! :) So here we go, and you can sing it to the same tune as "It's a long way to Tipperary". :D

It's a hard life, when you're a carer
And your loved one has AD

When the phone rings, and it's a bearer
Of the news that shouldn't be

Won't they ever listen?
Can't they hear your voice?

Yes it's a hard, hard life when you're a carer
And you're left with Hobson's Choice!

(Verse 2;))

Now I love him, there's no denying
And I hope I'm a good wife

But the problems are multiplying
Is this a carer's life?

Help is so sadly lacking
Thank God for TP

But we'll grin, and share our trials - and pleasures
It's a carer's life for me!!!!!:D

Thanks Scarlett, this is great and suitably upbeat. Made me grin, thinking of printing out and sticking it on the fridge, or should it be by the phone? :):)

Glad I've made you smile. :) If you have a friend who can assist, you could sing the first one, whilst your friend sings this one, which is to the tune of "Pack Up Your Troubles". The 2 songs go very well together. :D

Pack up your telly, there's a lot to do
And care, care, care

Nobody listens if you're sad and blue
Life just isn't fair

Happiness is managing
The time to brush your hair .......... SO!

Plaster a grinning smile upon your face and
Care, care, care!!!!!!

Just thought ......................... we could start a TP Glee Club. :D:D:D

I love those Scarlett, they go so well with the tunes and also echo something of the attitude of soldiers going off to war so very appropriate. I guess we are all conscripts though:D

Absolutely. :) I often used to "pick my battles", for instance, when John chose to dress himself, and wore 2 shirts, with underpants over the top of his trousers, indoors, it really didn't matter. Whereas if we were going to the GP, I would step in!
