My grandfather has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's about a year ago. He is the father to my step mother. She does not accept his condition. Due to several accidental overdoses I have restricted his prescribed medication to ensure he has correct amounts at correct times. He now neglects to wash. And is unable to provide good for himself he will also consume several days of food in one day as I am unable to highlight the importance of controlling his food intake to my family. We have recently moved house into another county. His memory clinic info has not been moved across due to my step mothers belief that he does not have Alzheimer's. In September I will start uni (adult nursing) and the family feel that a career is not required. I want to approach this topic with my step mother politely however she becomes very distressed when I start the conversation. I want to ensure he remains to receive appropriate care. Does anyone have any tips?
