    Apathy, mine!

    Thanks all for different solutions and sharing. I don't think there is any one answer as we are all so individual, but with something very much in common! This last few weeks has particularly hit home for me. Support is starting to trickle in but as this happens the reality beckons. I think you...

    Apathy, mine!

    Hi, yes I imagine there are lots of us out there in similar predicaments. Sometimes it just helps to know you are not alone.

    Apathy, mine!

    Thanks all, It is so good to have the opportunity to just moan and get it all out. I tend to be full steam during term time and then mentally collapse in the holidays. It is then when I have to face up to everything much more, however over the last few months things sort of came to a head where...

    Frontotemporal Dementia - is anyone caring for someone who has this type of dementia?

    My husband has the same diagnosis but so far no aggression. I do hope it stays this way. He has such a mellow personality. He takes, clopidogral, sertraline and atorvastatins. he also has some gastro pills to stop ulcers caused by the other medicines.

    Apathy, mine!

    I've been in touch with the Admiral Nurses this week as unable to answer the phone in work hours they were ready to discharge me. Anyway they were superb and have given me a lot of advice over the phone. Herbert protocol, tracking, etc I've made tons of adaptions to our home myself as the...

    Apathy, mine!

    Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's now the Xmas holidays and I am again exhausted but doing better. Had a major melt down a month back as things are progressing and I was told I should stop work! At 45 this just seems unbelievable and makes me feel extremely selfish that I am so...

    Gardening Scams

    Hi, I think my OH being scammed was one of the warning signs for me about his dementia so all threads like this are very useful here. My OH was convinced our roof tiles needed fixing and cementing and that they would save him a fortune. Unfortunately this all happened whilst I was out at work a...

    Apathy, mine!

    Sure it is not just me! Some days I just get so fed up with things and go into a sort of shut down. My husband is not bothered, quite happy to do whatever I want whether this is hiking a mountain or sitting in bed all day watching a box set! ( not that we actually hike up many mountains...)...

    Computer - ipad

    I think the advantage with Apple is the lack of viruses and the touch technology is extremely simple. The format is usually the same on all their devices as well so easy to move from one device to another for those that are used to Apple. Some people really don't like Apple because the price is...

    Computer - ipad

    Hi Jorbin, They are not cheap. Look for refurbished iMacs for a better price. But I'd advise going to a store first and getting somebody to demonstrate how to use and let you have a go before you buy. I don't buy anything I haven't tried out first.

    Computer - ipad

    You can get an apple laptop which would have a bigger screen but a lot of money to invest in unless you are already confident with iPads, etc?

    opis 60 rotary mobile phone ?

    Not an answer but just thought for anybody struggling with replacing mobile phones. I've just bought my husband one for 79 p from a local well known phone shop that has car in its name. I bought it with a simple £10 top up which only runs out when you use it all up. The phone is like one of...

    Kitchen app for people with early stage dementia

    Hi, In agreement that an app to help make a cup if tea would probably not be helpful. However just an observation, my husband can not use a smart phone anymore, gets confused with the remote control for the tele, can not even help me fill the car up with petrol which he could do 3 months ago...

    Information pack

    Hi Jorbin, My husband was diagnosed with early onset dementia last November but it was only this week that we received any paperwork with exactly what, and it states ' Picks' but nothing else has come. This is in a care plan which consists of 2 pages of info about the tests he has had and...

    Diagnosis = FTD

    Hi PJ and Country Boy, I feel really positive when reading both of your posts so thank you. No he's not had a SPECT scan just the MRI I think we are at early stages with the health service. We have a nurse visiting later on this week so can ask more questions. Living for today, definitely a...

    Diagnosis = FTD

    Hi PJ he is 60. The anti depressants I believe are to help with the apathy and behaviour changes. He is very happy so it's definitely not for that, but he's happy doing nothing! Or lots... depending on whether he's given suggestions... It's going to be a bit tricky for us doing group things...

    Diagnosis = FTD

    Hi PJ and all. Just wanted to say hello, I've been reading this thread as my husband has just had the FLD diagnosis and I felt a little like I was snooping on you if I didn't say hello. We knew he had some sort of dementia but today we were finally told which type and they've offered anti...

    Do any other 24/7 Carers of a PWD ( mid stage) try to work from Home?

    Mary Joan, Your post about daytime tv to resonates completely as I usually hate daytime tv but I have to own up as I found myself watching some in the school holidays. I actually got to sneaking in to our lounge to sit and watch it by myself! Can't blame anyone else for this but it was basically...

    Cash purchases

    The contactless is really good too if you want to check your bank statements. It will tell you where you spent your money. If you just pay with cash you don't know where it goes! I prefer to pay with contactless for this reason.
