Not eating, but not that far gone

I am glad I found this thread. My mother was taken to hospital with a very painful UTI last week. She was given a litre of saline drip and seemed to improve after that. She ate nothing that day but that is understandable if she was in pain. She is still not eating but is drinking little and...

    Totally lost and confused

My mother went into a care home in April. She lived in Wales but wanted to move to a home in England to be near me. This is allowed under the rules set by the Welsh Government. I visited many homes and checked even more CQC reports; made a shortlist of three and took her to see them. The one she...

Adviser says do not get LPA

Thanks for all the comments. I am glad you agree with me. She does have some money but under the limit so she needs me to run her current account so she can get extra spending money and give birthday and Christmas presents. This forum is so useful.

Do I need to get an LPA before all this is set up? When she loses capacity who will make sure her financial affairs...

bowel incontnence and anal plug (yes really) and confusion

This is a common problem with children too. The usual treatment is Movicol, multiple sachets for a few days until cleared out, and then the maintenance dose of one or two sachets per day, often for months. It takes a long time for the bowel to shrink back and regularity to return. In my...

Welcome to Talking Point - introduce yourself here

Hi. I am so glad I have found this forum. After Christmas I visited my mother in a care home where she was staying while my sister, who is her carer, was away on holiday. Mum has dementia and I talk to her often on the phone but can only visit three or four times a year because the journey...
