Amazing Night

Just got home from taking my dad to The Elo Experience concert at De Montfort Hall and we had an amazing night.

My dad the man who speaks probably 5 words a day if your lucky .......
Sang his little heart out all night !!!!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Word for word every song my dad sang.
I spent the first half of the concert sobbing with joy that I could hear his voice so clearly.
He used to sing in a very popular group on the working mens club scene back in the 80's and he had a beautiful harmony voice. And there it was tonight just like all those years ago.:)

He happily waved his glow stick around all night and held my hand as I danced on the last few songs.

I am for tonight the happiest daughter ever. I will treasure this memory forever.

Thought I'd share a piccy of the show and me and dad afterwards.

Good for your dad! I remember seeing them many, many years ago and that wall of light blew me away, also saw them in concert with the Manchester Philharmonic, so good.
John.
PS, That was the days when there was a pungent aroma of a certain substance in the air.....
John.

What a beautiful, heartwarming post. Thank you for sharing this :) It's nice to have reminders that it's not all bad. I am glad you both had such a lovely time!

Alexandra, see if you can find a CD of the Incredibile string band and play it for your dad, it may mean something to him (it would to me)
John.

Aw - how wonderful, and what a lovely memory you will have to take forward. Amazing how the ability to sing remains when the ability to talk is gone, isn't it? I suppose it's like someone with a bad stammer who can sing clearly? Years ago, I knew a woman who was a professional singer (still is) - sings beautifully, strong clear voice. But she has the worst stammer I've ever heard.
