Benefits?

Hi. My husband has Alzheimer's and may have to pack up work very soon. Does anyone know what benefits he would be entitled to plus me if I am his carer?

You - either AA or PIP for your husband are qualifying benefits
Carer's allowance

Note the £100/week income restriction

There may be others depending on total financial situation, an appointment with either CAB or AgeUK would be a good idea.

Not really benefits related but retirement related issues arise too if your husband is still working.

I think that if he can retire on health grounds then he can claim his pension earlier, if necessary.

Again an appointment with CAB/AgeUK, as Nitram suggested, is a very good idea.

I have also just been told we can claim 25% or 30% reduction on council tax if one person has dementia.
