Does anyone have a family member with dementia who has a PEG? I really need to know how long people have survived with them?

Thank you in advance.

From previous posts on this topic, I believe PEG feeding is not recommended for dementia sufferers.

I believe it may be suitable for young people who have, for example, had serious accidents from which they may make a full recovery after a period of unconsciouness.

Whether it is or not wasn't my question, it was just how long people can survive with one, with dementia? There must be people with dementia who have had them.

I cannot strictly answer your question with regard to dementia, but my uncles wife had a major stroke just over 3 years ago and since that time has been totally bedridden, hardly able to speak, move hands and been fed through a peg :(. Terribly sad.
