Dear Sarah,

One of my ex-colleagues has MD but the kind that is not suitable for some of the new treatments available. She does receive regular injections to try to halt further progress. I have known her for nearly 30 years and only just now is it particularly worrying to her. It has been very slow to progress to this stage. She did tell me some time ago that there is a new treatment for one kind of MD and hopefully this will be your kind. I think investigating thoroughly your situation can only be in your best interest as I know for a fact that these things are not automatically offered to people in some cases!!

I do know the dread of having a brilliant GP leave:eek: My sympathies as you deal with this loss. I trust someone equally good will come into your life.

Sending love and a (HUG) at this difficult time.

I'm really sorry to hear your news, Sarah. :( I do think that eye problems make one feel particularly vulnerable, and I sympathise profoundly. I hope you can find out more information about the type of MD that you have. I think the Macular Society is a very good source of information, but of course it would help also if you felt confident about your GP too.

Maybe your replacement GP will prove to be just as good as your outgoing one. I do hope so.

Sending you love and best wishes. x

So sorry to hear your double whammy, Sarah. A good GP is half the battle. I agree that you should ask her for a recommendation for a new one, or start chatting with friends around and ask them if they have one they like. A recommendation is better than pot luck. I'm sure you will sort it out.

Regarding MD, it is very slow, Dad has it too. His eye specialist recommended a supplement by Blackmores called MACUVISION. He said it is very good at supporting your eyes and, it won't cure but it's one supplement that has been clinically shown to assist the eye. It isn't cheap, as with most supplements, but worth a try.

Glad you have a new toy to play with, I have one on my Mothers' Day list so I shall see if I'm lucky tomorrow morning.

Hope you have a better day.

Take care,
Stephanie, xxx

My dad has glaucoma and MD and so did my aunt and my dad still drives at 80 - just - so he has been ok all things considered.
My GP left recently too so I know exactly how you are feeling - high and dry.

Lots of love and hugs

just to add insult to injury I had to spend the morning at the hospital minor injury clinic

they think I have torn a ligament in my leg:mad::mad::mad:

I can barely hobble and I am supposed to be going with my friend JB to Cambridge on Tuesday as part of Alz research he's going for a special brain scan

I really dont want to let him down as he has got cold feet about it anyway

What have you been doing?!!

I know you wouldn't want to let your friend down, but you need to take it easy if it is a torn ligament. You don't want to risk making it worse.

Hope you're being looked after! :)

Ouch Sarah, I've just looked at your Gardening thread and you mentioned your leg being painful on 1st of May...you need to rest your leg.

Frustrating for you. Hope the pain isn't too bad.

It's a footballer's injury....so no dribbling for a while. :) x

Didnt go to Cambridge as the scanner wa s broken so went to opticians and to see my lovely GP

I told my GP i would miss her she said she will miss me too!

I asked her what she is going to do and she said baking!!!!

but she may come back as a locum

we thrashed out a few things about my prescriptions tested me for urine infection as I am having trouble understanding instructions and what people are saying
e.g."The man in the sweet shop gave me a Pirannah" Why???????

I will miss her and I am going to get 2 pairs of varifocal glasses (1 a pair of sunglasses) on a BOGOF at specsavers
