National poetry day 4th oct.
Here goes my contribution

I've lost all my friends
I'm feeling so glum
My life's put on hold
As I care for my mum

Verse 2 later

Hi Patilo
Sorry you are so sad and you have lost your friends. If they haven't helped you in any way then they are not the friends you want. You will have plenty of 'virtual' friends here on TP anytime of the day and hopefully you can make some new friends anear where you live.
Our lives are on hold as well looking after Dad so know how you feel as it does have a big impact on your own life.
How is your Mum?
Luv
Polly x

Patilo poem

Here comes verse 2
But hey! Stop your grumbling
And open your eyes
Time spent with mum
Is a blessing in disguise.

where are the rest of you budding poets put there?

National poetry day? Replies in verse.....

How about all replies in verse????
Now there's a challenge
Bet it'll keep your mind off the troubles.

Patilos poem

Verse 3. Composed in the doctors waiting room. Entertained the doctor with it. Made him smile.

The anger and delusions of a schizophrenic mind
Have been replaced with a person who's sweet and kind
Now we can smile and have a good laugh
Even though the conversation is a bit daft.

I'm teaching myself Spanish as I have so much time
You should see my mum in stitches as she searches for words that rhythm.
The guitar, when it comes out, is accompanied by a song
My mum is pitch perfect
X-factor wont be long

The dementia's at stage six with incontinence at night
It feels like the local laundry
It greets me when it's light.

No gym for me
The wheelchair keeps me fit
No sugar either
The diabetes does its bit.

So who am I to grumble
Healthy and fit.
Yes, count your blessings lady
Get on and do your bit.

Ok, so it's not perfect but I enjoyed making it up.

Support and Caring for aged parents,
family demands, and work -
Dealing with other peoples torment
our own is left to lurk
in darkened corners of our lives
untouched until we've time
to stop and feel those little knives
destroy us in our prime.

First time I've tried poetry in forty five years. I am sending you a friend request Patilo, thanks for making me want to have a go, you are not without friends on here.

poetry day

Hey all you poets, I thought I'd join in
Throw another twopennorth on the poetry whim
I've had much support since I came to this site
Gave me the will, to continue the fight
To keep our lives normal, enjoy every day
Making most of what's left. What else can I say!

Haven't written a poem for years, so enjoyed having a go.

Memories to treasure
a lifetime together
Of how we perceive
what's true and believe
My world is not yours
and yours is not mine
“What is your name?”
you ask quite a lot
The name of the game
does not matter a jot

Wish it was different
But can't be undone
The sun is still shining
Let's sing and have fun
Over the hill
But still going strong
Over the rainbow
On with the song

Patilos poem

I put my life in verse
To illustrate the point
That even on a gloomy day
You can always find a sunny ray

I too havn't written any poetry for years but was just inspired on the spur of the moment.
Thanks sistermillicent for your friends request. Will find out how to do this later tnt.
However, i have to inform you that i don't have good memories of my schooling by nuns :) LOL
