we suspected Altzeimers in April 2011 when dads sleep pattern , driving skills and short term memory skills changed, however he scored well on the cognitive test in clinic,
the memory doctor suggested maintaining a reg structure and routine of activities and a second cognitive test in sept 2011.
in sept my 83 year old dad was diagnosed with altzeimers
in November he had a urinary tract infection which made him so unwell he went into hospital, he then got a blood infection and became very distant and confused, he slept loads, didnt eat much or take exercise however he did recover from these infections .
The saddest thing is that the acute illness accelerated the alzeimers into the final stages by jan 4th.
He slipped away on jan 12th, god bless my dad. xxxxx

So sorry to hear about your Dad :( The same happened with my Mum, she got pneumonia but recovered from it to a degree, but it seemed to really accfelerate the dementia and she only lived another couple of weeks after that. Such a sad time, I'm so sorry. x
