Hi All,

I read somewhere, can't remember where as I seem to be reading many things just lately. About carers getting help with mobile phones and if they have to use taxis's.
Can anyone shed any light on this please.

I'd speak with your SW or council to see if you could be eligible for Direct Payments

This is good info, but Ive got a few questions....

If I decide to employ someone to sit with mum so that I can continue to work for, say 2 afternoons a week, can I do this on a self employed basis (ie the person being self employed)? The reason I ask is that if in the event mum has to go to care at some point in the future how do i prove that this is a legitimate expense and not deprivation of asset?

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply to my mail. I have contacted Crossroads where you can be given an appointment for a assessment. Have to ring a number and they will make one for me. Can be done where I would feel comfortable, at home in a local cafe, or their office. So I will certainly do this soon.
