It is doubtful you would have made much even on Ebay. We had loads and I sussed the prices on Ebay - many were not selling. I remember binning alot and keeping alot. Still need to sort some out. I do have lovely 78s which are far to old and sentimental to dispose of YET!!

(Gosh Helen we could have played some!!:cool::cool:)

Love

PS Oscar sends his love!

We managed to get rid of a load of old LPs and 78s a few years ago in a similar way, Helen.

Eric was convinced that they were worth a fortune....but they'd been badly stored and would never have been played again.

How was the ramble? Here's hoping it blew the dust and cobwebs away..:)

Love xx

The ramble was brilliant and the people were all friendly and welcoming. I went with my d-i-law and she thought they were lovely too. Here are a few photographs http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/helen...feat=directlink#slideshow/5447045052764291090

Linda, believe me I don't look young at all - it was a fluke. You usually have to take 100 photos of me to get anything like a decent one:eek: I am trusting my friends not to post the other 99 photos:D We all went for a pub lunch and I had broccoli and stilton soup followed by chicken fillet in a home-made mushroom sauce with veg and chips!! I am losing weight though although you might not think so when you've looked at the photos:eek:

I hope the cling film works. If Vic sits rather than stands it has a good chance of working and hope you will let us know.

Love

Hello Helen,
So pleased you have had a lovely day and with your daughter in law too that is so great. You are obviously a seasoned rambler looking at your outfit, I love walking but have never "rambled"
I don't know whether I could walk 5 miles without practising, but would love to try.

You really are having a busy time what with all the tidying up your are doing, socialising and more,it is fantastic how positive you remain. Well done on you.
Hope you have a pleasant evening too.
Love x

I slept well and have woken up feeling well:) I have already phoned the Hospice and the counsellor will be ringing me today:)
I have also phoned a charity and they are coming to collect some stuff later today. This morning I am going to go out for a coffee and then have a little task which I have had on my mind.

I think about Christine's post (Page 89, post no. 1328) that mentioned the champagne bottle and cork every day because it is the most appropriate description of my situation. How I ever fitted it all in the bottle I will never know!!!

Love to you all

Helen, it does just about sum up life as a carer doesn't it? But when it has to be done, you somehow just find the energy to do it. It is a bit of a shock afterwards to realise how much you did do and I think that takes some getting used to, in many respects. You are handling it all so well and so positively - inspirational, as usual xx

Good morning Helen

I think many of us will have Christine`s analogy of the champagne bottle etched on our hearts and in our minds.

You are doing everything possible to help yourself, which is what I see as the most important aspect of coming to terms with a different way of life. Too many people sit around either waiting for something to happen or waiting for others to make it happen.

Have a good day Helen.

Love xx

Thank you Mary and Sylvia:)

I have an appointment to see a Hospice Counsellor on Monday at 10am and I am really looking forward to it:)

I made an appointment to see my GP (which is a rare occurrence) because I seem to have had bruising appear on my lower legs over the past year or two and once they appear, they do not disappear over time!! I also have redness that comes and goes. It is not painful but can be itchy. I have never really had the time or inclination to sort this out but now I have no excuse and it will be good to get it dealt with. I imagine it is something rather minor that can be treated with a cream and the bruising might be a vein that needs seeing to??

The British Railways Museum have been in touch again today and they are definitely wanting the stuff and so it will be sent to them either tomorrow or Saturday. It will documents Alan's father's railway career and here are a couple of the things that will be sent. All the prize cards hanging on the vehicles have been kept too in superb condition. It has been a good day and I have the discussion group in the morning.:)

Hello Helen,
You still keep going like there was no tomorrow. You are fantastic. I am pleased you got an appoingment both with Hospice and the doctors, now it is time for you have a MOT to make you feel even better.

The railways momento are so interesting and it is very generous of you to donate it to the museum. Nice to have Alan's fathers life documented for future generations too.

Hope you enjoy your discussion group as much as last time.

I have been to a carers support meeting today and had a lesson in relexology and indian head massage, so now I can practice on my husband, which is excellent. We had a practice there and had a great laugh learning about which bit corresponds to where. So interesting.

Hope you have a pleasant evening.

We are having a small birthday tea for our grand daughter if a short while and look much forward to it.
love x

The weekend was a blessing to me Jan and I am so glad that you like my gift to you:)

I went to the discussion group this morning and it was great. I am already looking forward to next week:) I came home, made myself a little lunch and then I felt very alone. I decided to go and buy the paint for the front bedroom and I got on with painting the ceiling. I felt so much better and am looking forward to doing the walls tomorrow.
