Paying for Care

Dear People,

I have a relative who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I'm looking for some advice. The house they live in will eventually be sold, and therefore the state will want her husband to pay for her care until he has no money left - is this true?

If anyone knows about this I would be very grateful for any input.

Kind Regards,

Lee Day

Hi Lee, May I suggest you contact the alzheimers society as they can give you good advice. My limited knowledge on the matter is that there is a threshold of around £20 K which when the persons assets reach that level then the state starts paying for care. But talk to Alz Soc - they are very knowledgeable on this and similar subjects. Hope all works out well for you, take care, Hugh;)
