Lisa dear, I understand how you feel, but please remember you are only human.

You are doing the very best for your mum, and these things are often not picked up immediately. What a good care home you found for your dear mum, and the carers reported, and action was taken, of their observations.

I am sure even your wonderful mum had her doubts as to her own ability at times over the years. I am sure now that everything will be done to keep your mum as well as is able.

(Lionel had heart attack a year after going into care. I was on holiday in Egypt. Such a shock to come back to, but well over two years later his heart is about the only organ not giving him problems.)

Please be as kind to yourself as you are to mum. Try to rest, you sound completely exhausted. Love n'hugs.

Don't forget my mum is only 62! But I agree, I have to weigh it up and see what is the best option for mum .'how did I not realiZe though, if she had a heart attack would she not have been in pain ??
She did vomit on new years day at my house but I put it down to a bug or overeating( she hardly ate anything!!) apparently this is a sure sign!
Oh I don't know, nothing makes any sense these days!!
Thanks win!

Ah. Connie!!
You are right, I am exhausted, but have to keep going for her!
And how right you are about the home , mums carers are the best most caring people I have ever met , I cannot praise them enough, they have become like a second family to my mum( and me!!) if it wasn't for them god knows where I would be!
Thankyou and I have calmed a bit now, should not post stuff when I am so upset but I have nowhere else to turn!
Xxxxxx

Lisa love, just post away. You are only telling it like it is for you. That is the beauty of TP, 'somewhere to turn to'.

It is always easier to try to sort out someone else's problems, even when we don't factor everything in our reckoning, posts are always sent with love and support.

Chin up now, I can see you smiling at mum tomorrow.

Oh Lisa - What bad news.

You must be in such turmoil at the moment, I am really feeling for you.

'how did I not realiZe though, if she had a heart attack would she not have been in pain ??

You could not possibly have realised....

When my Mum had a heart attack in 2004 (pre dementia), she just thought it was indigestion and was eating mints until they came out of her ears (no real pain)! - She eventually took herself off to A&E in a taxi! (unknown to me of course)

This was followed by a further heart attack a week later when she was back home again, and again she had no real pain!

Anyway the route forward for her was having a Stent fitted in her heart which has kept her fit and well for six years now (apart from dementia :()

But I suppose my point is that the words 'Heart Attack' sound so bad, but really in a lot of cases they are a very, very lucky warning signal that all is not right, which enables the medical profession to 'step in' before things get really bad.

It's very daunting hearing the words 'heart attack', but it is good that it has been spotted and something can be done.

My husbands Dad had several heart attacks ...first one when he was 60, but enjoyed a further 20 years of the good life.

Take care and try and get a good nights sleep.

Thinking of you.

You can wear your positive head for your Mum, but when you are on TP you can let it all out. It's what we are all on here for.:)

Hi Lisa
Its me. Look my dear friend the GP can;t even confirm a heart attack without blood tests and ECGs etc etc so wait until tomorrow to get the full picture. It could be that she has some Atrial Fibrilation which he has picked up which doesn;t always need a pacemaker but simple medication. Please my dear friend get some sleep. Am sure your mum will be fine. She is so fit and healthy looking. You deserve a good nights sleep after the day you have had.
Am thinking of you Night NIght. xxxx

hello you!
What are you doing on here!? ;) I had a good old cry last night, then fell asleep with my laptop on my knee, woke up about an hour ago! You are right angela,I dont know, for sure,so will wait and see. However,as you know, something is not right and even in my own mind, all that has been going on with mum, points me in that direction. We will see.
I think yesterday was a bit of a relief really, just knowing the dementia was not getting a grip of mum. ,angela,I have kept it together for the past few weeks while something was not right with her but last night, ooh,I let go,in a big way! but sometimes its good to have a good cry and god I did,the tears flowed!! Feel ok now though, ready for today!
Will txt you later to see how your dad is.
Hope you are ok,talk about me being exhausted!!!!
Love Lisaxxx

Hi Lisa,
I'm so sorry to read about your mum, but pleased that she is being looked after so well. I have never heard of this sort of heart attack, shows how much I know!

You will have had a huge shock to the system and are naturally upset and worried, but you are allowed to be. A good cry is a great release of tension so you will hopefully feel a little calmer now. Your relationship with your mum sounds lovely and she will be benefiting from all your love. I hope she is doing well and that you gain some peace of mind very soon.

Hope you have a good day and get a good night's sleep tonight.
lots of love,
Gill x

Dozy!
Thanks a million for your concern, yes I feel alot better today, head is a bit fuzzy and eyes are sore but hey-ho am still standing!
It was so funny this morning, my little boy said to me "gosh, mum, you have got one of those colds that you use to have before grandma went into the home!" My hubby just gave me a look! :rolleyes:I must have looked just the same when I use to cry all the time over mum and told the boys I had a cold!
Take Care

Hi Gill
Yeah,it was all a bit of a shock,my response was the same of you, never heard of a heart attack like this, should she not have been in agony with her chest and collasped?? Apparently not! They are now talking about "heart Block" and no I have never heard of it so dont ask me! Just seems that mums heart is not working properly, something to do with the "electics" around the heart, oh I know, dont have a clue but will have a better idea Tuesday when we see a specialist, gosh,I hope he talks to me in a language I understand because I didnt today! Also,no-one would commit to anything today, they all still bantered around a few theories and then said the specialist will be able to tell me more once her bloods are back!

On the upside my mum loved getting all the attention from the carehome, they are wonderful people and made a real fuss of her yesterday and today! She is milking it like a gooden!

Hope you are well and your mum is ok?
Love Lisaxxxxx

Hi Lisa

I hope you are feeling a little better today, it is all very stressful waiting for test results and appointments with consultants.

I hope he talks to me in a language I understand because I didnt today

If you want to have a read on 'myocardial infarction' which is the medical term for 'heart attack' have a look at the following link. It might just give you some more info to highlight any questions you might like to ask on Tuesday...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myocardial_infarction

Try not to worry (easier said than done!)
