Hi Sylvia,

Tina has ummed things up when she says:
the awareness which is so sad it makes me cry, or the dementia when nothing you can say will register.
Sad, but true. I am glad that once again you have stepped up another notch in your efforts to get acceptable help for Dhiren.
I admire your tenacity in chipping away.

I do wish you all the best in your latest efforts. Love n'hugs.

Evening Sylvia

This really is good news:) I take my hat off to you because you are trying to meet these changing challenges by creeping forward step by step:)

My goodness, it really is good to be back on TP.

Love

It`s going from the sublime to the ridiculous.

We were very kindly given a DVD of the film Gandhi today.
I told Dhiren we would watch it tomorrow.
He said we must both wear our best clothes.

My first reaction was a gentle smile..

And then I thought, well respect seems to have disappeared from our lives, how many of us stand up for the national anthem?
So as he slips back in time I suppose it is understandable..

Not sure you have to put on Sunday best though..
We are apparently getting a statue of Gandhi here in Leicester, along with Mandela park..(not sure he would approve, a hangout for druggies..

I`m getting a bit worried by all the sidelines.....friends....visitors.....blogs.....and probably other areas as yet undiscovered.
Does anyone fear it will weaken the main Forum?

Hello Sylvia:
I am a bit mystified by the new parts of TP. I think when we have all explored the new features we will get back to the main forum. I suppose it will take time before it settles down.

I love the Gandhi film - would happily dress up for it.

Love Jan

That a good point . I think so also .

I left a message about it in the new profile part in your profile.

Oh Helen

That sounds so forlorn.

I will visit screen one day. Right now I`m too busy trying to work out how to invite you to join my Group.

The Brave New World ...

I share your concern in this; a huge majority of 'new' TP members express their relief that they have found a group of fellow carers (on the old TP, the main forum) who really understand the nuances of dementia, as no-one else does or can. I hope the 'diversifications' will not fragment that sense of community & belonging.

But I'm trying to tell myself that it's a sign that I'm getting old & inflexible, afraid of change & being unable to understand new technology & concepts .
Perhaps that's how things will develop - "old hands" will stick with the familiar format, the younger members who grew up with this stuff & feel at ease with facebook & blogs etc will use the new side of it more.

Sylvia, your "Life in the day of..." thread is nearly always my starting point when I log on; I don't post as often as I used to, but hope you can feel positive & loving thoughts coming your way even when I don't put them on screen.

Love xxx

Thanks Lynne

It`s early days yet and perhaps we are not sure how to make the best use of what`s on offer.

All I know is you have posted twice about the same subject, once on my Blog and once here. In the same way I have posted twice too, once as your `visitor` and once here.

:D Yes, and it was actually intentional rather than a 'senior moment'
The blog entry was the first one, then I thought of those who might not feel like venturing into Blog-land yet so put it on the main forum too!

New Forum Same Sundowning...........

D `I`ll have to get the bus now.`
S `Where to?`
D `Home.`
S `You are home.`
D `She will be worried.`
S `Who?`
D `My wife.`
S `I`m your wife.`
D `No. You are here. She is there.`
S `There is only me.`
D `You don`t understand . She will worry. She panics.`
S `Shall we both go?`
D `You can`t drive. You haven`t got a car.`
S `We`ll get the bus.`
D `I can go by myself.`
S `Stay here with me. She`ll know you are safe.`
D `If I could phone her she will know I`m safe. Have you got a phone book?`
S got the phone book, `What`s the name?`
D `G****` [our name]
S `What`s the address?`
D `** ********* ******` our address.
S `There is no-one of that name and address in the phone book`. [ex directory]
He was so worried he didn`t know his phone number, I told him he had it on his key ring.
So now he is trying to phone our number. First it was on the TV remote control and now it`s on the phone and I don`t know how to get out of it.

Oh Thanks Jennifer

He has more or less accepted that and said he will try tomorrow. Now he is looking for his money to see if he has enough to get him home.
That I can cope with.
