News this morning in Australia - there is a break through potentially for those with Alzheimer’s firm of dementia :
Flinders University Professor Petrovsky said the team of researchers had completed successful testing on mice, which had been "genetically programmed to get dementia and Alzheimer's disease".

"We were able to prevent the memory loss in the mice and obviously the next step is to take this into human clinical trials," he told ABC Radio Adelaide.

He has been working on the vaccine for two decades, and said he hoped human trials would start in the next 18 to 24 months.

"It's an exciting time to be starting the new decade — hopefully this is the breakthrough of the next decade if we can get it to work in the human trials," he said.

Hope you have not been affected by the bushfires!

Its another mouse study :(
I really do hope Im wrong, but so far, every medication that works in these genetically modified mice has not worked at all in humans.

Yes, they are bloody good at curing genetically modified mice. One would think they would reslize that genetically modified mice are not a good model to use, but apparently not. I suppose it secures funding for them to continue to breed mice with **** memories!

Clinical research in mice is a long way from trials on humans. So obviously, if anything is to come out of this research, it is years and years away. Why oh why do they persist in telling us these things and give people false hope about possible cures? How many times do we hear of a breakthrough (maybe) but that a result is many years away? Why don't they just shut up about it until it is actually in the stage of a final trial?
