New Bathroom

I’ve been planning a new bathroom for my mother for a little while. She has a bath that is impossible for her to get in and out of and a shower that she’s wary of because she doesn’t like to step over things.

The plan includes removal of the bath, a walk in duel head shower, new high profile toilet and a few other bits and bobs including handles to help steady her. The room will also be repainted and retiled.

It’s not going to be cheap. Bathrooms never are. But I’m close to the point where I need to pay the deposit and it occurs to me that I might run into some legal issues.

I have LPOA. I’m assuming that spending mums money in a project like this is an acceptable use of that money? It’s her house, her bathroom. Is this going to be ok?

Are you aware that it should qualify for VAT relief

The paperwork is easier if the contractor purchases goods free of VAT, any reasonably sized contractor should be aware of the details.
