My 81yo friend has been diagnosed with VD on 21st Oct. specifically Small Vessel Disease. Neurologist placed her on Clonazepam as since a TIA on 27th Aug she's experienced Ataxia (inability to keep arms/legs still). She's also very anxious, upset and cries pitifully. Due to just starting Clonazepam he won't prescribe an antidepressant yet, but has authorised a small dose of Lorazepam when needed.
Please can anyone with experience of VD with Ataxia let me know what meds they or theit LO is on. Many thanks.

I`m sorry I have no experience of Ataxia but want to welcome you to the Forum @PastorD and hope someone will come on line eventually to share their experiences.

She's also very anxious, upset and cries pitifully

This is so upsetting to be with, especially when we`ve no way of helping.

What might be right for someone else might not be right for your friend, because it depends on their general condition and what other meds they might be aron.We aren't doctors, so it's really best to speak to the consultant if you don't feel the meds are helping, but give it a little while to start working.
