Hi, I am looking for specific online forums/help groups, for families in East Sussex, either here or elsewhere on the internet.

We are looking for specialist dementia care homes for my dad with challenging behaviour and I want some advice from people in this area who have gone through the same thing.

Many thanks,

Xenia Koppen

Hi @Xeenies I'm not sure if TP has areas of its forum for specified areas. You might want to do a search on the websites of your local authority or local newspaper, or see if your local authority has details of relevant groups that may have such a forum. For example my local authority has a Carers department to look about the health, assistance and and if I was looking for the same thing as you, I would probably look to their website to see if it exists there.

Or you could just specify what areas you are looking at on TP and seeing if there are others who know of the area and can give recommendations.

Never heard of any forum as specific as this but the following link will take you to a site for care homes, with local reviews, where you can do a post code search to see the types of facilities available in your area
https://www.carehome.co.uk/

The following link will take you to the part of the AS site where a postcode search can be done for what support is available in your area
https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/find-support-near-you

I'm in that area but I would never make a recommendation because all our PWDs have different types of behaviour so what works very well for one won't work for another. I have two friends in the area whose parents were in dementia care homes but those homes wouldn't have been right for my mother. I think all you can do is research via carehome.co.uk and contact care homes to see if they could meet your PWD's needs. I know it's difficult so I wish you luck.
