My OH has severe mobility problems and his social health care person and OT advised us to apply for grant to convert our bath into a walk in shower. Explained it was means tested and that we may have to pay a minimum amount towards it, To cut it short, we have just heard that we dont qualify for grant because we have £4,900 disposable income and as the work would cost approx £4, 500 we dont get it. My question is, that £4, 900 is absolutely all we have only just managed to save that up as we really need new boiler. And its emergency money for when its needed. SURELY a person is allowed to keep a certain amount of money aside for emergency., a d not be expected to spend there last little bit of savings and then have nothing, the grant comes from local council
