WHITE Clothes Name Stamp / Marker?

Hello all,

I'm trying to find a WHITE name stamp or marker for my father's clothes; I can find black ink but not white, unless it's in pen form, and I don't fancy writing his name repeatedly 100s of times LOL (especially when the reviews often say the white pen doesn't last very long in the wash!) or sewing in loads of tapes...

So can anyone recommend a white/light colour stamp for name-tagging dark clothes, please? Doesn't even have to be a stamp, any other similar options would be gratefully considered.

Thanks! :)

I have used these white iron on name transfers for dark socks and other stretchy clothing that won't easily take a label: https://www.easy2name.com/iron-on/letter-transfers.html If you follow the instructions carefully they work well. Usually socks go missing or shrink before the transfers wear off. For a permanently stuck on label with a white background and dark lettering, I recommend these: https://www.easy2name.com/stick-on/original-stick-on-labels.html
They are good for marking the arms of spectacles, ornaments etc. as well as for clothes.

Aha! Most of my father's clothes (t-shirts & pants) are dark, but I didn't even think of other items, the specs one especially will be helpful for times he has to go to hospital etc. Thanks!

A word of warning re writing on to existing clothes labels rather than using name tapes

When it comes to that dreaded day of donating clothes to charity shops, in my experience they will not accept clothes with names written on a label

I had to throw away many hardly used clothes

I suggest that when you these labels make sure that you sew them on as the iron on ones tend to come off!

I don't have time to sew on labels and can recommend the 'clip on' 'tag' type of label. They are quick and easy to apply, easy to remove and have shown no signs of falling off during the 18 months I have been using them.

I have used both iron-on and stick-on tape for my mother, and both seem to work fine (so far). She's been in a care home for over a year and she still has all her clothes and bedding, as far as I can see! I mainly used the stick-on ones for things like shoes, slippers, and other non-ironable posessions.

I can't remember where i got the iron-on tape, but these are the stick-on

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008JZR9K2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did look at the clip-on type but I thought they would irritate her and she'd fiddle with them. And there is no way in the world I am sewing on name tapes.

The home my dad is in uses EasyTag Name Buttons. Cant post a link as this is my first post! The home has the device to attach the name tags to the clothing. We just order new buttons as and when required, the care home supply the order forms

If only all homes were as sensible! Rainbowcat, I would check with the CH before you buy tags because ultimately the effectiveness of any labels comes down to how they manage and sort the laundry. We thought the clip on tags were the perfect solution for most items (not underwear) but found that nobody at MIL's CH took any notice of them! Even if we showed them to staff they would say they only look for textile labels on collars and seams, and no-one would think to look for writing on a button. We had to re-label all the already tagged clothes with stickers and name tapes. Annoying, since the tags and their applicator hadn't been cheap.

Revised to say:- the clip on tags that canary recommends are more like a normal clothes label, and they look very good. The ones I used were like a button: https://www.easy2name.com/no-iron-no-sew/easytags.html So ignore me, rainbowcat, I think canary's labels might be just the job!
