My husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. He is 75 with lots of health problems. We heard nothing from anyone after this until we were offered a 4 week course at our memory clinic which we have now attended 2 weeks of. My main concern with my hubby is not so much memory but sleeping. He does have memory problems but it is when he sits in chair and sleeps. He has had this problem for years and it is not new but is worse. the memory clinic are now offering a 14 sessions cognitive therapy course which I don't know much about. Will this motivate him?

My husband has attended the 14 week cognitive therapy course, which I call The Old Boy's Club. He is on the 2nd week of the 14 week maintenance course. He enjoys it very much. It kind of 'brings him alive again' to be more like the person he was. He likes socialising in any case, so it is helpful to him. As important, it gives me a break. I have managed to organise something for him to attend every weekday. At this stage in his dementia journey it is helping both of us.

PS. My husband also does a lot of sleeping, but he's also fighting other health issues, including cancer.
