Hi. After 9 months since mum died, we are finally burying her ashes next week. It was her wish to be reunited with her mother. I am looking for a poem I might read at the graveside. I don't want 'do not stand at my grave and weep'.

Anyone got any ideas?

I was just about to post that poem up Malalie - it was used at my sister's funeral last year, and also at the funeral of a friend's husband. I like the fact that it is so positive.

Sorry don’t know the author. Heard this at a funeral I went to

I know, dear Mum
The time has come to finally let you go.
I know you’re gone, I must move on
To walk this lonely road.

And yet it seems You’re still with me
Each movement that I make -
A guiding light, Still burning bright
With each step that I take.

I can’t forget,I won’t regret
The moments that we shared.
Your gentle face, The loving ways
That showed how much you cared.

You touched my heart,
You opened up my eyes, You helped me see What I could be, That I could reach the skies.

Now I still find You’re on my mind,
Though you’re so far away.
I know it’s wrong, I can’t hold on,
It’s time to find my way -

Without your love To lift me up,
Sometimes it’s hard to face.
But in my dreams You’re still with me,

A part I can’t erase.
With each new day,
It doesn’t fade,
It’s lonely with you gone.

Memories Keep haunting me,
And yet I must move on.
Perhaps in time Someday I’ll find
It doesn’t hurt so much.

But I know now
Without a doubt,
I won’t forget your love.

In the Universe, a life is but a speck of dust
In our World, you meant everything to us.
In our Life, you were our never ending World
As our potential you did unfurl

We are what we are, because of you
We knew your Love was ever true
We will miss you now and for forever more,
As now you walk a distant shore.

Your memory will stay with us so strong
Your thoughts and love will stay so long
Your smile, kind words and gentle face
As we fond memories do trace.

Good bye for now, our mother, dear
Good thoughts of you are always near
Good Hope is now within our hearts
As we now gently, must part

I've just written that for you, not sure if it's any good, but you might
want to use bits of it........

Thankyou for your ideas. I haven't quite decided yet and it's Friday, I'm hoping it will just come to me on the day.

Room for one more? I wrote this about a conversation I had with my neighbour.

Woman versus Oak via Alzheimer's.
A Poem by Huw

I’ve climbed to the top of that
said, my 70-year-old neighbour,
pointing at a large deciduous tree.

I looked in the direction she was pointing
and inquired, the Oak?
It being forty meters tall at least
and probably twice her age,
yes, she replied excitedly.

When you were young?
no last week, she replied.
There must be a lovely view
from up there I said
yes, there is
she said smiling
through the memory haze
of Alzheimer’s.

We buried mums ashes , she is with her mum now. It was short but sweet, and the new stones look good. I feel a sense of closure I've been waiting a long time for .
Thank you for sharing your ideas.
