Hi

Is there really no extra support available for two people where one receives the state pension plus disability allowance and the carer receives a carer's allowance?

In real hardship cases some charities will help out eg those specialising in dementia or the elderly. This will usually be one off payments for holidays or household equipment. Contact a few and see what happens.

Don't forget double disregard on CTAX reducing it to 50 % of original bill, 25% for person with dementia and 25% discount for carer.

Only if the carer is not a partner or spouse.
And you have a diagnosis of a "Severe Mental Impairment" a simple diagnosis of AZ is not enough you have to find a suitably qualified person to say it is an SMI and at least some GP's seem to be reluctant to do this these days.
