Ive got an urge to clear out the loft / cupboards etc and throw away things I dont use.I feel it will be easier for OH to find things.Has anyone else had this urge ?

I get an urge to declutter now and then - I think it's synonymous with us wanting to clear our minds or have a fresh beginning. It's completely normal in my book as long as you don't go overboard with it and expect it to do miracles for your OH's ability to find things.
We have just cleared out the loft in our garage, we moved here 10 years ago and at the time we put all kinds of things up there which have not been touched since. After taking 4 car loads (and I do mean loads) to the dump it is now nice and tidy.
