Dad recently started using conveens at home with varied success. Wondered if anyone had any tips on keeping them in place?
Has anyone used a bigger nightbag with a conveen similar to that used in a catherter?
Has anyone fitted the conveen themselves to a father?
How did you get the PWD to accept it and understand it?
Tips welcome

No experience fitting them on my own father but 30years experience lf using them as a nurse. Fitting them can be very tricky, not to be too blunt but as the penis shrinks there is less to get in the convene on! This caused hysterics amongst colleagues and it was difficult not to snigger in front of the patients. There I a specialist gel which can e applied around the base to help the convene to stick on, it tends to stick to pubic hair and is difficult to get off. Ask your surgery to send a district nurse out to help you and then they'll make sure you get the right supplies ordered.
When it comes to fitting one on your Dad, laughter helps to overcome embarrassment and he'll probably get the hang of it, after all application is a lot like a condom. If he can't get the hang of it chances are he'll not be embarrassed by it so you should try not to be.
At night use a long tubed bag, during the day use a leg bag.
God luck.

I tried conveens with my husband. I know it's a different situation from trying to fit one to your father though. My husband let me put them on him but he really didn't understand what was going on and wanted to pull them off. I experienced the problems described by chikenlady and we both got quite stressed about it. When I did manage to get him to keep it on when he went to bed I often found it pulled off during the night and everything was soaked.

We did use the long tube and the big bag overnight. The odd nights when he didn't tamper with it were good and I wish he had got used to it more. Sorry that's not a lot of help to you. As I say I think fitting it in my husband was perhaps easier for me than it would have been if it had been my dad.

Hi Chickenlady and Izzy
Thanks for replies. I really couldn't begin to start putting it on for Dad and have no intention of trying myself, even though I had to do it for a client once or twice as a caregiver. District Nurse has already been round and provided the full kit, Dad is now on a much smaller convene and still dropping off. D/N rang yesterday and has done a referral to Continence nurse which he hasn't had before. Not sure what she might suggest? Convene has never stayed on overnight, Dad wouldn't have a clue how to put it on , mostly I have to pull trousers up for him and turn tv on for him etc.
I am guessing continence nurse may want me to keep record of output, incidents? and hopefully provide some incontinence pads?

Yes I did endless records of input and output and incidents. Sadly I have to say I had a difficult relationship with the continence clinic. I never really got the whole problem resolved.
