Yesterday I had a phone call from one of my Sisters-in-law to say that MIL had stopped eating and drinking. We're 120 miles away. My sister-in-law phoned a while ago to say that my MIL has just died. She was in her care home for nearly eight years. She was a lovely mother to her three sons. My Sister-in-law was so distraught when she rang.

Sorry to hear this turbo. Knowing it's going to happen and anticipating it is one thing, and one I'm very familiar with and although we're not there yet, I expect the 'reality' of it finally happening will be quite another.

My condolences too turbo, it death is always sudden even when you are expecting it. May your happy memories of this wonderful woman sustain you through the grieving process.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. We are meeting up with husband's brothers and SILs tomorrow. They both live near to MIL's care home.
