Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum and also to the Alzheimers Society. My dad has been ill for 18 months now and finally this week he has been diagnosed with AD. He is 58. My mum is 57 and I am 32 with 2 very small children. I am an only child and we don't have any other family. I know we are not the only people in the world who are in this situation but we don't know where to begin to get help and advice on how to look after my dad.
Mum has had to give up work to look after him and although we have put a claim in for DLA nothing has come through yet so they aren't getting any financial help andno care plans are yet in place. Can anyone give me and my mum and advice as to making the best of our future given this new situation that we are in.
I appreciate any comments no matter how small, I need all the help I can get at the moment to get through this difficult time.
