Hi, we are sorting out a new bathroom for my mother who suffers from dementia/alzheimers. She still lives in her own house and is starting to show signs of physical disability. We want to make her life easier in the home to extend as long as possible her independence. Whilst the bathroom is being sorted we thought a 2 week break away would do her the world of good. Ideally we would want somewhere in the north and near the coast or lake district, dales etc. Any information on this topic will be appreciated.

Look at dementiaadventure.co.uk
Tailor made holidays for the sufferer and their carers.
Haven't tried them and they are pricey but may be what you are looking for.

Are you talking about taking her away, or are you talking about sending her on holiday? Because it does make a difference if someone is going with her. If she's going alone, I think perhaps you need to look for an appropriately located home that can offer respite as onlyme said
