Hi everyone.
I' m afraid it's not good news from hospital. My hubby has secondary cancer in lungs and lympe nodes. Do not know yet if he will be offered treatment.
On positive note they hurried up his brain scan in case his memory problems are also due to secondary lesions. Got that tomorrow. He is home now but memory deteriorating fast and not at all well. Also he does not remember what he has been told!
Not after advice or sympathy, just letting you know while I've got a spare few minutes:(.

Advice and sympathy are what keeps us all going. You're welcome to both any time you like, or need, and I'm very sorry to hear of your sad news.

:)
I have been reading posts for a few days and have found it very reassuring that other people have similar feelings and problems as I do.
I'll give a bit of background. My Husband is 75 (16 years older than me) and has been suffering memory loss and confusion for a few years but has become much worse in last 9 months. He has been referred to a memory clinic and we are waiting for an appointment for a brain scan so diagnosis is not confirmed, but specialist thinks he may have Vascular or mixed dementia.
I have recently given up work (retirement!), and we were to have more time to enjoy life, but his memory problems have stopped that and I am fast becoming his carer.
I have found it very useful to read about how other people cope and now find it much easier to cope with the endless repeating of questions and false memories.
I have a wonderful daughter who is so supportive, and a beautiful baby Granddaughter who is wonderful therapy (lots of hugs).
I am so glad I found TP, and look forward to sharing with other carers. :)

Hi Suky
I am quite new too, and my husband is 10 years older than me (he is 73). We have an appointment with a specialist in a couple of weeks time and I hope that will eventually lead to a diagnosis. My husband is still active, playing golf and tennis and he wants to do
holidays and other things. The problem with the holidays is that he gets very stressed packing, and when we are away he is often agitated in a strange place. Last year we had to fly home early from USA, because he was in such a state. It's hard to deal with because in the right environment he can be ok, and we want to do as much as we can together.
It's good to share experiences and I have had some help from people on other threads in the forum, so keep talking!

Hi Debs42
My hubby was cycling and walking regularly until this spring. Still don't know if it is dementia or his cancer that has stopped him. Unfortunately he wouldn't even make it to the airport right now.
Has now had his brain scan, but appointment not til 2nd sept. Has got a lung biopsy on Tuesday, so either way we will get some answers soon. I am hoping he will be well enough to go away at least once more so we can do something special. Fingers crossed.
I understand what you are saying about the right environment. We have been going to the same place in Malta for 4 years. We went this year and he was fine with hotel etc. Just got stressed and sometimes rude with people he took a dislike to.
Hope everything goeswell with the specialist. It is so much easier when they are willing to be diagnosed! My hubby forgets anyway as soon as he has been told something!!!
