I have a bog standard cordless phone and it allows me to save numbers then sort them into groups and determine which group (numbers of friends and family) is the one whose calls will be heard - all others can be put on silence, either round the clock or on certain times of the day. It has dramatically cut down on the number of sales calls we receive, and the ones that still call simply don't get heard and therefore not answered. The only prerequisite is that you pay for caller display.
I am glad you have posted this Beate, thank you. My friend is struggling with this, i.e. sales calls from dubious providers which she's been plagued with for years. I managed to call Virgin , registered her fro TPS several years ago now. They said they would put on some other call barring register, should take 2 weeks and if problem persists then she will need to pay £2.70 a month
extra for 6 months which apparently is usually long enough for call companies to delete numbers from their lists because they don't get required response.
Can you give details of your phone as this may be a much better option but I'd have a lot of fun
trying to set it up but then friends and family numbers are very few
so maybe wouldn't be too difficult.
Thanks
Sue
