Care home fees

Most of the homes will have websites I guess. Because I couldn't make lots of calls at work I jsut emailed them all first to find out fees etc and they were all happy to send these by email which at least gave me a chance to work out which ones were feasible before I started visiting - they ranged from £800 to £1200 a week so quite a big difference!
Well it might help to narrow the search. Are you looking at self funding only?
Will it be purely a Care Home? or a Residential Home or a Care Home with Nursing
or a Nursing Home or a specialist dementia unit in a Nursing home? now all that sounds complicated but each one might offer slightly different things and therefore meet different needs. The "her" you refer to is this a mother? Obviously it would depend on assessments being carried out (including NHS CHC if appropriate)and vacancies being available.
Age UK in your area will produce a list of local 'homes' you could then ring the most appropriate ones and just ask if they could give you some information such as fees etc they would also send you their brochure, activities list, meals sample menu etc
But nothing can prepare you properly than visiting the ones that appeal to you and meet your Mothers needs once you've found out the info you need.
