I've had a problem with my medication too @jennifer1967 . It's usually delivered every 3 months - the pharmacist sends the prescription to the surgery, dispenses and delivers it to me. I hadn't kept my eye on it and I ran out of thyroxine (for underactive thyroid) yesterday.

I rang the pharmacist this morning and they said they had put in for the prescription before the Bank Holidays but the surgery hadn't sent it. They said they must be overwhelmed with prescription requests. They agreed to deliver me an emergency supply today (I think they can do this as they know I take it regularly and can issue it in advance of an actual script from the doctor's).

It is a worry when you can't get through. The pharmacy may be the best bet. I tried to ring my doctor too this morning and the queue must have been so long, I just got an engaged signal.

I hope you have luck with it today.
thank you @nita on the phone to the chemist now. most of my tablets are on the weekly script so i dont have too many problems with them but my IBS and oramorph i have ordered as needed. i did my oramorph 10 days ago. the chemist hasnt got the script as yet so i have to phone the doctors to make sure they have actually done it. on 2 occasions recently, the doctor had not sent it to the chemist. with oramorph, its a controlled drug so the doctor has to sign that one

I use electronic repeat dispensing
https://digital.nhs.uk/services/ele...e/electronic-repeat-dispensing-for-dispensers .

The GP enters the prescription(s) on the NHS spine either single acute/controlled medication,or repeat for stable medication, I get 13 at a time which aligns with an annual blood test and review.

Acute scripts are immediately downloaded to the nominated pharmacy, first of repeats are ~48 hours and all further 7 days before due date.
I get a text when ready for collection although my calendar also sends me an email.

If I require more than a month's worth because I am going away the pharmacist can dispense extra ( within the limit set by GP) by marking each batch as prescribed and then manually downloading another from the spine.

mine do go electronically every week for me to have the prescription weekly. is the additionals we have problems with. my daughter is a dispenser in a chemist. she does all my husbands meds, ordering them and popping the pills for his dossett box and he doesnt run out but i have a different chemist as most wont do weekly scripts especially in trays and deliver once a week. i think that they are all just snowed under.

2 1/2 hrs later and the chemist has the prescription but not the oramorph as they are waiting for it to come in. i could do with screaming at the top of my lungs but that would just hurt my throat so im quietly seething. its taken 5 days to work out they havent got it.

i got the oramorph late this afternoon so im relieved. i dont suppose the anxiety helped my pain. i was working out all the ways to deal with it if i didnt get it. appt with diabetic specialists tomorrow or wednesday to start insulin. its good i have my own machine as the chemist has only just given me the lancets and testing strips. i have blood and b-keytones testing strips too which ive not dealt with before. i am just relieved.

ive tried to contact the gp over my husbands constipation as it seems like its going to be ongoing. at 8-05am i was 27th in the queue so done an e-consult instead. i want to check if i can give him more than 1 a day and another prescription so not urgent as such. the e-consult itself is a pain and repetitive but if it get results then that will have to do.
Pharmacist might be good person to ask.

i sorted it in the end. i got my daughter who is a dispenser but also in charge of ordering my husbands meds to request the laxido. she got it through the next day so i have another 2 boxes. then my husbands bowels kicked in and he hasnt had to use them. he has a blood test next week and im hoping he wont need iron tablets as he has refused them not surprisingly. see what the result is.

Hi @MaNaAk just catching up I'm in bed but cannot sleep not unusual for me.. I had a letter on Monday to call GP surgery regarding results of my blood test. I've tried twice today but cannot get through to someone on the suggested extension so now giving up. More frustration today as the cleaner failed to come yet again. I messaged her to ask why as she didn't contact me. Cleaner eventually replied later in the afternoon but she was actually due 11am this morning. Reason is now saying unwell herself (her daughter unwell last time two weeks ago) also now says not sure when she will be available. I'm sorry she says not well if it's genuine but not prepared to try booking again for her to not turn up and not even bothering to let me know. When dad passed I became very unwell but I managed to get his funeral sorted and notify relevant departments from my sick bed. Im pleased to see @jennifer1967 has got her medication sorted. Take care and thanks for mentioning me ?

Hang in there @jennifer1967 you've got the strength to deal with this. @Wildflowerlady I think you need another cleaner.

@jennifer1967 - someone I know has been on tablets for a long time for Type 2 diabetes and he's now taking insulin. He had to wait ages for the diabetic nurse to decide he could have it. He says he feels so much better and has more energy. I hope it makes a difference to you too.

thank you @nita they were left with no choice as my diabetes is not controlled at all. this will be in addition to the tablets. they referred me to the consultant and and she prescribed it. ive been on the tablets for 5 years. i was exercising on an exercise bike and going by the diet and lost a lot of weight. then i whacked my knee on steel of the stair lift, torn the cartilage and developed arthritis so it was too painful to exercise after that. then had partial replacement. IBS got worse so had to adjust my diet. the tablets actually caused it as well.

I think you should be very wary of your neighbour.
