Thanks canary that’s a great idea.
She will be furious though, we can’t eve get her to contemplate walking or using the bus or taxi. There is def way more at stake here in her own mind than a tin box with four wheels. It’s about independence, identity ...a lifetime of freedom.
I’m a bIt scared to be honest....
Big thanks for this.

Yes, exactly. Thats why its always so hard, but its something that needs tough love. You really dont want to wait until she has a serious accident, or gets done for driving without a licence and insurance.

Yes thanks both, all those reasons are ones we have explained to mum, but they have no effect on her whatsoever. We have gone beyond her voluntarily giving up her keyes and licence.
Me and sis are puttting together a sheet of local contact info for travel .... tele numbers, timetables etc. Trying to keep it simple so she will use it... it will be a resource she can practice using right now.. she is resourceful in so m any ways at the best of times so we just hope she will rise to this challenge like she has with so many others. This is of course wishful thinking but without this there is no hope.

Well the driving alternatives didn’t go down well, they were met with a flat refusal to engage, and more. In a funny way, though, this has spurred us on to pursue our goal of taking her to a post car life.
