Oh you know what we all need something to cheer us up, recently I have become fixed on a song I used to hear back then. This song was originally by Peter, Paul and Mary, but I actually prefer the Seekers version. So to those of us at a certain age lets have a moment of a fab song, and if younger here is a song you missed: Puff the Magic Dragon:

Yes I think that would probably be the wish for most of the older generation. My mum has never expressed a wish just says she's 'too old' whenever she is told her age, 88. None of her family got to that age so she is amazed by it, although it's not that old nowadays.

Yes absolutely

I have to go to bed now as I have a long day tomorrow doing something that will impact on the wider public eventually. I am very lucky to have a mum that always supported my musicality as a child, so here in return although mum can't hear this (even if I play it to her) is a song I love dearly sang by a fabulous group of amazing singers, Underneath the Stars:

Oh crikey - I know every word! How sad is that? Was it Ed Stuart who did Children's Favourites on the radio?

Ah thanks @Izzy - it's definitely Stewpot I remember so must have been Junior Choice. I must have been very young as I recall an embarrassing faux pas on my part: I asked my mum how they knew which bands/artists to get in the studio, having heard Stewpot read out the request letters, thinking he was seeing them for the first time... Didn't occur to me they were playing records  Awwwwww! Sweet. :D

I was born in the 50s. But only by a week!

I’m a little older, but remember every word as well. Fortunately nobody close enough to hear me this morning!

Izzy, that turned into a whole tray of scones, made by cousins wife for her granddau birthday! I just put clotted cream on one for the photo. All the rest acquired their cream later, about 2 mins before being devoured!

Confirmed mum has a UTI. I was impressed by the trainee GP today, he has even sent a sample off for culture and sensitivity. Mum is on much needed antibiotics and already much less confused -thank God.

Today mum is much better after three days of antibiotics. On Sunday evening she was so bad that I wondered whether I would be able to continue being here with her. Such a sweet old lady can change very quickly into a whirlwind of anger and aggression. This time round there was a cause, a UTI, which is now seemingly resolved.

Meeting the guys in Manchester was a big challenge for me as my anxiety is quite bad these days, I have become so anxious at leaving mum that each moment that passes I struggle when away from her -my mind is constantly wondering, unable to focus on conversation. Our meeting made me realise how bad this has become. I think I need to go back on citalopram, so that at least I feel less anxious and can exist effectively and also work without constant thoughts of worry. Alzheimer's is one problem to deal with, Alzheimer's and anxiety is quite something else, and if I am honest it becomes destructive and also isolating.

So I have decided that I must get used to socialising again and doing something for me. Plans are a foot, small changes but at least changes :)

Small changes are good :)

I think we all found the meet up a bit nerve wracking. I'm also very isolated by dementia (and for other reasons) and I really don't do social things like that - scared me to death! But I am glad I went :)
