I had the weirdest dream, more of a fragment really! Three times in one night I dreamt that I could see the prettiest tiny bird I'd ever seen, very colourful, and I was trying to draw Rob's attention to it, but he wasn't paying attention. Three times I woke, frustrated, because the bird was so pretty and I wanted him to see it.

In my dream I had never seen such a bird. I have just done an Internet search, and found it! It's called a Tangara Preciosa, or Saira Preciosa, and lives in Brazil and Argentina.

How strange is that? Perhaps not really, because of course I always wanted to share things with him, and the dream is simply reminding me. But I was surprised to find that the bird exists. We liked birds, but were never twitchers or anything like that.

Hope all goes well today at the hospital. If op extended into lymph nodes and arm, it may be worth spending a little money on a private (sports) physio to make sure you regain full movement. The physio I use I find amazing at finding lots of little things.

Good suggestion , JM. THANKYOU.. I've been thinking along those lines too, as I'm not sure if what I'm doing by way of stretching etc is right. Asked at the hospital about Physio, but it's obviously not funded by the NHS, and they were very vague. I need to find someone really good. I found someone who helped Rob with his back, but the premises have been altered, the practice has gone, and I have lost touch... Will make some enquiries though....

I’m sorry you have to some ongoing treatment but hopefully, that will then be it. I used to take a friend in to hospital for this treatment and it made her very tired but was successful. It is good that your daughters-in-law will go with you. It’s so nice for you to have their company and support. It’s been a hard time for you and I wish you all the very best for the coming weeks. x

Thank you everyone, so much.
They seemed pleased at the hospital that they had removed almost all the cancerous growths, and all I need, to make sure, is a course of radiation therapy, every day for a few weeks. That was on Thursday, and I have an appointment with an oncologist ( who will now take over from the surgeon) on Monday. And one of my two lovely daughters in law will drive me there, and keep me company.

Radiation therapy.... does that mean you might glow in the dark?

My fil had radiation T and he felt a bit weak after each session, but generally felt better a couple of days after treatment.

I have just caught up with you Anne and glad the check up went well. Good that you were not alone. Wishing you all the best with the radiotherapy - it can be tiring. Especially the second half..

The first time I took Mum for radiotherapy we had the misfortune to be sitting opposite a lady wearing a skirt....with her legs wide open. I whispered to Mum ‘that’s what this treatment does to you. Makes your legs fall apart’. She was then called in for her turn and left giggling! I will say the same to you. Keep your knees together.

Amethyst, Will definitely remember you and and mum and why you and she giggled!
Saw lovely oncologist yesterday. Because my son has invited me to France for Christmas, I asked the oncologist if I'd be able to fly afterwards, and he he said yes, but it would be easier to get an aeroplane.

Last time I was at the hospital the specialist told me about a patient who had asked if he would be able to play the piano after his treatment. The specialist said yes. The patient said " good, because I couldn't play it before". DaDum!

It must be an old chestnut of a joke popular with Cancer specialists.

Take it easy whilst having the radiotherapy - as Loopiloo says (and as I saw myself when my own Mum had this treatment years ago) it can leave you very tired, so do take care of yourself as much as you can, hun xxxxx

THANKYOU, AnnMac. I can't imagine feeling more tired than I do already. It became part of me before Rob went to live in a Care Home, and continued afterwards. We'll see. If Blue planet can't keep me awake, I can't imagine what will..

Where do you get your getupandgo? I suspect it's will power?

Lol Anne - most of the time I feel my 'get up and go' has got up and gone, and that I'm more or less just plodding along

I've yet to see even episode one of Blue Planet - it's recorded, but just haven't had the chance to sit and watch it at the moment!

Life with Rob was so often a lot of fun. Today an old friend dropped by, and reminded me of something he did many years ago, and I had forgotten.
We used to look after her very elderly dog sometimes when she went to London for the day. She was rather serious, and used to worry, and would ring us during the day to ask if all was well. He would always tell her to relax and enjoy her day and not to bother with phoning. But she did. One day, when she rang, he said " oh, I'm so glad you rang. Something happened about an hour after you left.She had six puppies"

She said she never forgot that joke.

Exactly a month to the day after Rob died, his younger sister, in Canada, has also lost her battle with dementia...She too died peacefully. She was a kind and gentle soul; it's such a tragedy...but thank goodness, it's over...
I'd love to think they're together....they missed each other.
